Wedding Party Favors – Don’t Forget About Them

August 30, 2009

One of the important steps in wedding planning is preparing favors for the wedding guests. Many couples wish to thank their guests for attending their event by presenting them with special mementoes of the occasion.

Artistic, thoughtful brides and grooms can even make their own wedding favors. The personal style of the bride and groom, the budget for the wedding, and, if applicable, the theme of the event should all be taken into consideration when choosing favors. Perhaps a useful gift that can be taken home will be most welcome, or a special food that represents the locale of the wedding or a special memory of the couple. Where can you find special favors? Local bridal gift shops are one place to look.

Online sites also provide many options at competitive prices that could be the perfect memento for a special day. Custom-making favors is also an option. Travel, beach, formal and non-formal weddings can all be commemorated with appropriate favors; for instance, a beach-themed wedding favor might incorporate found seashells, stones or even beach sand.

A tiny bottle of sand from the beach with a hand-painted tag, a Christmas tree ornament made of shells, or perhaps a potted plant decorated with beach objects would all be welcome. A “winter” wedding might call for snowflake-themed place-card holders, bottle stoppers, or even gel candles.

Any theme can be commemorated with an appropriate favor! Wedding favors are a special extra to be added to the day, since guests do not expect any recompense for attending pre-wedding events or the actual marriage. It’s nice to make your day unique in their memories with a special take-home. Perhaps you will want to have different favors for male and female guests.

Women might like something pretty for the home, while men may prefer more useful gifts like pocket knives or small tools for home or car fix-it projects. Fashionable, stylish favors don’t have to be pricey. You can mark purchased gifts with your monogram by embroidering, engraving or painting.

Your guests will feel particularly appreciated if they receive a personalized gift. Don’t forget pretty wrappings and a message on a card or tag! How to present these gifts? You can put them on a table at the entrance of the reception or party hall for your bachelor party, shower or wedding.

You can also place them at the tables where guests will sit, one for each place setting. Whatever you choose, start planning early. Favors are just a small part of a much larger event, but an early start will give you plenty of time to shop and compare options.
