Wedding Colors – What To Choose From

July 15, 2009

When it comes to having your dream wedding, the color-scheme can be an important factor. When celebrating a ceremony for a couple, there are numerous decisions to make such as the types of flowers, decorations, centerpieces right down to the color of the table linen. The colors chosen for a wedding can make a world of difference of the “feel” of the wedding and how it is presented.

While there is no color that can’t be used in a wedding, putting the colors together to get an attractive wedding color scheme can be more difficult than you may think. Choosing colors for your wedding that are of various hues can help to avoid colors that are too similar clashing together.

Wedding Colors – Greens

For the summer time, a green color scheme can be presented to give a relaxing atmosphere. When choosing a green palette, avoid similar green shades such as a forest green and pastel green. As a better alternative, choose your favorite green with paler shades such as white, pink or silver. This will allow your green to stand out.

Wedding Colors – Reds

For the winter time, consider shades of red to pull off a traditional wedding style. When choosing red as a main color, avoid using green as a pairing color. This can give off a Christmas effect that won’t reflex a proper wedding. Instead, match your red shade with colors of blue or purple. Red can also be paired with gold for a more romantic style.

Wedding Colors – Purples

For a more luxurious color scheme, using shades of purple can present royalty for an elegant wedding. For a more fun and festive purple wedding scheme, purple can be paired with colors of gold, white or tangerine. Matching these colors among the decorations can result in a bright and cheerful wedding ceremony.

Wedding Colors – Blues

For a more relaxed and comfortable wedding setting, shades of a calming light blue can be combined with silvers or golds. Deeper shades of blue present a more sophisticated event. Blue wedding schemes are often seen at beach weddings along with brightly colored flowers.

Wedding Colors – Orange

For a less traditional, more unique wedding theme, shades of oranges can be used to brighten up a ceremony. Paired with a deep brown, the color orange can present a beautiful wedding scheme. These shades are commonly seen among fall weddings.

Choosing a color scheme for your wedding will take time but can result in a unforgettable wedding ceremony for the bride and groom.
