Unique Wedding Ideas – Make Your Wedding A Little Different

December 13, 2009

Your wedding day should reflect the personality of both the bride and groom with special touches that exude your essence. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming and it is important to remember that this day is about the coming together of two people and hearts, not just a big fantastic party.

Specialized details that reflect your personalities are an important part of this festivity. When writing your wedding program, a good idea is to identify members of the bridal party and let your guests know how they are related to you or how you met. This is bound to provoke conversation and get the attendees at your wedding to know each other even better.

Those who have come a great distance for the celebration would appreciate a thank you note on some local stationary along with local mementos or brochures to remember their trip. These simple acts will be greatly appreciated by your out-of-town guests. At the ceremony, make sure your attendees have access to beautiful colored facial tissues or vintage linens for dabbing away those tears of joy.

A special letter to your family, especially your mother and father, can convey all your appreciation for their hard work and efforts towards the wedding. A letter such as this will be treasured for years to come. You could even start your wedding ceremony at a time that is of importance to you as a couple, or your family. If a loved one recently died, you could start the ceremony at 8:22 pm, to commemorate a family member that passed on 8/22 (August 22nd).

The importance of this timing could be noted in the ceremony program. A wonderful way to have a lifetime of memories from your attendees is to have a large matted picture frame available for signing by guests. Good wishes or words of wisdom can then frame a valued wedding photo for all to see in your new home. Table assignments can often be difficult.

One different way of handling this issue is to assign guests to a table number that reflects your age and interests at that point in your life. At Table 8, for instance, there might be pictures of you and your fiancé on your respective soccer teams from age 8 along with a soccer ball with the number eight across it. Table 2 might show pictures and memorabilia from your second birthday parties.

Children can be a welcome addition to your wedding, as long as they are kept entertained! Coloring books, children’s books, some indoor toys, crayons and even puzzles can be good distractions. Enjoyable food like pizza or sandwiches will make meal time easier. If a side room can be found, you can even set up a VCR with an animated video.

  2. These days I think both couples should go in together and both have the say in the rings taking on board each others opinions. I mean you have to wear it for the rest of your life so really the person wearing it should feel comfortable wearing it.
