The Beauty of Fall Wedding Favors

October 16, 2009

Fall weddings are the essence of romance and beauty in the changing of the seasons. When you think of the fall, it invokes old world images of leaves changing into rich hues of crimson, amber, rust, plum, and copper.

Autumn is the season of ripe orange pumpkins and red apples, colorful leaves crunching beneath your feet, and the smell of spice lurking in the air. With the age-old appeal of theming your wedding to the season that it takes place, why not decorate your autumn wedding with the lavish tones of the fall?

There is an abundance of simple ways to make your wedding glow with the spirit of the autumn. Mainly, however, you want to focus on its colors. Autumn days are bright while simultaneously being crisp and cool, and this is the aura that you want your wedding guests to feel from the colors used at your fall wedding.

You will want to use bright hues of red, yellow, orange, purple, and brown. Luckily, it is easy to incorporate these colors into your wedding with your wedding favors. It comes down to being as simple as wrapping paper and a little bit of craftiness. You can begin by initially wrapping the gifts in brown paper.

Add a yellow, orange, red, or purple sash and then glue on a faux leaf or two in different colors from the paper and the sash. The same idea can be applied with gifts that are too small to be wrapped: Use brown paper bags to put the gifts in, tie them closed with yellow ribbon, and either paint or glue on several autumn leaves in varying colors. Decorate your reception tables with these wedding favors and additional leaves on autumnal colored tablecloths.

You can also buy some leaf-shaped candles in brown, orange, purple, green, or yellow and light several of them in the center of the table. For an added bonus, make sure that the candles smell like autumn spice so your wedding can appeal even more to the senses associated with the season. With just a little time and effort, already you will have constructed a feeling for this glorious season in your autumn wedding!

There are, however, a few points to remember when choosing colors for your autumn wedding: It is absolutely essential to use the deep earthy tones of red, orange, yellow, purple, green, and brown that are associated with the fall. While yellow is a fall color, baby yellow will conjure up images of spring time. While orange is a fall color, neon orange will have your guests’ minds wandering to the summer.

Green is a color seen in the autumn, but in accordance with the season you should use it sparingly, especially in conjunction with red, as that combination makes many think of Christmas. All you need to assure that you are using fall versions of all these colors is to go outside in the autumn and gather up some leaves for color comparing so you may perfectly capture the essence of this lovely season.
