Unique Wedding Cakes – Use Your Imagination
October 13, 2009
After the ceremony and the food and the dancing, there comes–the cake! But how many people really get excited over the traditional tiered bridal cake with yellow cake and white or ivory icing? There are ways to stir interest and create memories if you let your imagination have free range and are not stuck to one idea of what a wedding cake must be.
If you’re putting your personal stamp on the rest of the wedding items, why not continue as you dream the perfect sweet creation to cap the event? It’s a relatively simple way to add a fairy tale stamp to your perfect day. We think of the traditional cake as one with tiers layered one on top of the other, either directly or supported by columns. But you don’t have to have a tiered cake.
You can have a cake in the shape of something meaningful to you–the place where you met or a symbol of the honeymoon destination, for instance. You can have tiers that aren’t traditionally assembled but that seem to float or balance in mid-air. Icing can be dark or light, and you can use fresh flowers or trinkets or whatever decorations create interest and maybe even contrast.
